A panel with scholars from Utrecht University will discuss gender balance and the representation of women in leadership positions in the human rights sector, as well as potential implications for the international human rights movement, including the treatment of women's and girls' rights.

This event is jointly organised by the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) and the Gender and Diversity Hub, both part of Utrecht University.

Prof. Alexandra Timmer, a specialist in non-discrimination law, will moderate and participants will include:

  • Prof. Felisa Tibbitts from The Carla Atzema-Looman Chair in Human Rights Education
  • Prof. Rosemarie Buikema, Prof of Art, Culture and Diversity
  • Dr. Ineke Boerefijn, Coordinating Policy Advisor of the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights, the National Human Rights Institution for the Netherlands.

The event will take place in English, with a reception to follow.
