The Montaigne Centre for the Rule of Law and the Administration of Justice of the Utrecht University and the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary are pleased to invite you to a book launch of: Perceptions of the Independence of judges in Europe Congruence of Judiciary and Society, by Frans van Dijk. (published by Palgrave 2020)

The independence of the judiciary is threatened in many countries, even in Europe. In recent years the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary has conducted surveys among judges about their independence to learn how they perceive this. Frans van Dijk, Netherlands Council for the Judiciary and Utrecht University, has coordinated the surveys. He just published a book on perceptions among groups in society about judicial independence and its connections with respect for independence and trust. The book will be presented on 4 February, 4 pm till 5:15 pm.
